Crazy Days of Summer

We are in the midst of the hot and humid North Carolina summer. With Leah's medical trials and tribulations and a brand new baby we aren't able to take a vacation this summer. We are finding creative ways to beat the heat and have fun. Thankfully, two kids under two don't require much for entertainment.

Our current favorites:

Dance Party- Put the Ipod on shuffle and see what you get. Ben loves to dance and somewhere along the way decided that dancing must be done with a spoon in each hand. We all get our spoons (one big and one little) and groove away.

Race- We have a long hardwood floor hallway perfect for playing. Ben likes to race, holding hands (!) and loves it if we race while Leah holds Clara and holds his little fingers. Guess who always wins?

Boobies- See picture above. Ben has a bowling set with two bowling balls that are the perfect size for a pair of play boobies. Don't ask how this first started, but every couple of days he asks for boobies. Just like a boy, he proceeds to hold and kiss them!

Reading- In the morning Ben likes to stay in his crib and hang out while we sit in the rocking chair, read the paper and drink our coffee. We hope this phase lasts forever. This morning he asked for a book and "read" to the animals in his crib.

Naked Time- When all else fails Naked Time always seems to work for the kids. Clara especially loves this one...Mark really hopes this phase won't last forever.

Three Months

Our little girl is changing everyday. We are having fun discovering her personality. Miss Clara is easy going and loves to watch the world around her, especially her big brother. She is strong and physical and moves her long arms and legs all the time. If you can keep a secret...she is the easiest, sweetest baby, we don't want her to find out and start making demands!
Ben's vocabulary grows daily. He is such a boy, two of his favorite words are "stinky" and "nasty." We have been spending lots of time playing outside looking for bugs, picking up sticks and blowing bubbles.

We hope you are enjoying some slow, easy days of summer too.
