Pop Pop

Leah’s dad came out for his annual December visit.  The kids love having Pop Pop around, especially during an exciting season like Christmas.  Clara and Ben loved reading lots of Dr. Seuss with him and proudly showing off their Giants championship b-ball hats to Pop Pop, a longtime devoted Giants fans.  We all headed to the super cool mountain town of Asheville for some (cold-brrr!) holiday fun.  The gorgeous Grove Park Inn is home to the National Gingerbread competition and we had fun picking our favorites (Ben wanted to take pictures of all the ones with penguins, Clara loved the one based on Polar Express).  After that we headed to the Tupelo Honey Café, a delicious dining spot that lived up to the hype.  We also challenged Pop Pop in a bowling match, Leah lost her coveted champion title (seems bumper bowling is just her speed) to Pop Pop and Ben managed his first strike all on his own.  We are thankful for time with family and the effort people make to travel to see us and spend time with the kids, it makes for a special mix of Christmas cheer.
